Juniors Fall in Shootout

The Montreal Juniors dropped a shootout decision to the Shawinigan Cataractes Friday night in Shawinigan by a mark of 2-1 in the shootout.

Montreal fell behind 2-1 after the first period. Shawinigan first period markers came from Benjamin Casavant and Peter Sakaris. Trevor Parkes continued his hot play of late with another goal.

Montreal tied the game 2-2 when Philippe Fontaine scored in the second period. Montreal defenseman Francis Meilleur assisted on both Montreal goals. The third period saw both goalies come up with some spectacular saves to send the game into overtime. The overtime period decided nothing and the two teams went to a shootout, with Dave Lebrecque scoring on Shawinigan's third shot to seal the victory.

Gabriel Girard turned aside 30 Montreal shots to earn the win. JF Berube faced 35 shots from the Cataractes in a losing effort.

NOTES: Montreal plays in Lewiston Thursday before returning to the Verdun Auditorium next Friday to face arch rival the Quebec Remparts in a 7:05pm tilt.
