Montreal Juniors News Release
After coming out of the first period against Gatineau by a lead of 2-1, the Juniors would come out on the losing end for a third game in a row, with a score of 7-5.
Off to a good start in the first period, Jérémy Gouchie (12) and Angelo Esposito (23) would each get the Juniors on the board before Gatineau cracked goalie Jake Allen. Jean-Philip Chabot scored for Gatineau on the power-play at 13:18, bringing the score to 2-1 entering the second.
The second period was a tough road for the Juniors, as they got into penalty trouble which resulted in three of the five Gatineau goals in the period. Nick Layton was the lone goal scorer for the Juniors. Yoan Pinette, Tye McGinn, Christian Ouellet-Martel, Jean-Philip Chabot and Steven Delisle each tallied for Gatineau.
The third period did not produce as much offence as the second, however the Juniors were able to tighten the score to no avail, as Gatineau responded yet again. Philippe Fontaine and Alex Wall each scored for Montreal to bring the score to 6-5, however another power-play opportunity for Gatineau allowed Josh McQuade to beat goalie Jake Allen to restore the two-goal lead and final score at 7-5.
The Juniors play their third game in as many days tomorrow as they face off against Baie-Comeau at 4:30pm. The Juniors will be visited by Victoriaville on Wednesday evening at 7pm followed by a Friday night matchup against the Quebec Remparts at 7:30pm.
