The Montreal Juniors triumphed over a game side from Halifax with a 2-1 win Wednesday night at the Verdun Auditorium.
Halifax jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Martin Frk. The teams skated to a scoreless draw in the second. Montreal equalized the score with Jean-Laurence Beauchemin's fourth goal of the season. Montreal took the lead for good when Raphael Pouliot redirected a point shot into the top corner.
The game featured steady and sometime spectacular goaltending at both ends. Halifax goaltender Frdric Pich was the busier of the two, facing 36 shots from the Juniors. Etienne Marcoux picked up the win, turning aside 19 of 20 Halifax shots.
NOTES: The West Division leading Juniors travel to Shawinigan on Friday for a divisional matchup with the Cataractes.
