Ogden, UT (April 16th) - The Wichita Junior Thunder knocked off the host, Ogden Mustangs, last night in the Thorne Cup Semi-Finals and will face the Idaho Junior Steelheads today at 2:30 p.m. central time for the Thorne Cup.

The Junior Thunder jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a goal from Henrik Igel with 13 minutes remaining in the first period. That would stand all the way until the third as Idaho scored twice in a two-minute span to take a 2-1 advantage.

Jack McClelland, son of former Thunder Head Coach Kevin McClelland, potted the equalizer at 9:08 and then scored the game-winner at 1:47. He notched his third with four seconds left into an empty-net, completing the natural hat trick and propelling Wichita into the final with a 4-2 victory.

The Junior Thunder and the Junior Steelheads faced each other in round-robin play with Wichita winning by the final of 2-1. Idaho defeated Valencia in the other semi-final, winning yesterday afternoon, 3-1.

This is the first trip for the Junior Thunder to the Thorne Cup Championship game while the Steelheads are looking for their third-straight title.

Fans can watch the game live starting at 2:30 p.m..
