Junior Blue Jackets lose to Gamblers 5-2
Columbus, OH - After taking the first four games of the season series, the Ohio Junior Blue Jackets were downed by the Green Bay Gamblers 5-2 Saturday night at the Dispatch Ice Haus.
Ohio (14-20-5, 33 pts) fell behind 2-0 in the first period after goals from Green Bay defenseman Taylor Johnson and forward Joe Schiller. Junior Blue Jackets forward Derek Roehl cut the deficit to 2-1 with his team-leading 16th goal of the season with less than two minutes remaining in the period.
The Gamblers (11-27-4, 26 pts.) extended the lead to 4-2 only 82 seconds into the second, but Roehl once again cut the margin in half with his second goal of the game and third of the weekend series. But Green Bay scored two more in the third, including a power-play tally by forward Stephen Carew and an empty-net goal by forward Mike Borisenok to clinch the victory.
Ohio goaltender Corson Cramer, making his second start in as many nights, made 14 saves on 18 shots in the loss. Green Bay goaltender Aaron Crandall turned away 24-of-26 for the win. The Junior Blue Jackets finished the contest 0-for-8 with the man advantage, while the Gamblers converted 1-of-4.
Ohio is back in action on Tuesday to take on the Indiana Ice at the Dispatch Ice Haus. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
