The Slammers exploded for a season-high nine runs on a season-high 16 hits as they defeated the Lake Erie Crushers by a score of 9-5 in the rubber match of the three-game series on Sunday. Michael Wing tallied four hits, including a double, and scored two runs to lead the offensive charge for Joliet.

Meanwhile David Christensen got the Slammers on the board first for the first time this season with a two-out, two-run home run in the first inning. Corey Kimes battled through five innings to pick up the victory as the Slammers' bullpen was able to endure the Crushers' comeback attempt. Marquis Riley (2-6, 2-R), Kyle Maunus (2-3, R, RBI, 2-BB), Javan Williams (2-5, R, RBI) and Tyler Goodro (2-3, R, 2- RBI) all had multi-hit games for the Slammers. News and Notes...

For Starters...

Evan Anundsen makes his fourth start of the season for Joliet. He hasn't been able to get through the fourth inning his last two starts despite an excellent strikeout to walk ratio. Anundsen has only walke three batters all season while striking out 18. The 25-year old from Littleton, Colorado was a fourth round selection of the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2006 draft out of Columbine High School. He spent the past seven seasons pitching in the Milwaukee organization and started 24 games for the Double-A Huntsville Stars in 2012. Anundsen's best season as a professional came in 2009 when he posted a 2.69 ERA in 23 starts for the High Single-A Brevard County Manatees.

Windy City manager Ron Biga was the Slammers' VP of Baseball Operations the past two seasons.
