Juice Win Series Over Foxhounds

Aiken, SC- The Bradenton Juice bats came alive and they got a combined shutout on Saturday night for a 9-0 win over the Aiken Foxhounds at Roberto Hernandez Stadium in Aiken. Three Juice players had 3 or more hits and starting pitcher Brian Gartley got the win as Bradenton improved to 16-9.

The Juice got the scoring started in the second inning when Eddie Kim led off with a solo home run over the right field wall. The long drive is Kim's third of the season and his 16th RBI.

In the third the Juice scored twice when Luke Barganier led off with a solo homer over the center field wall. Two batters later Al Corbeil smacked a solo home run to right field giving Bradenton a 3-0 advantage.

Two innings later Bradenton scored again after Julius Thames hit a one-out single to right field and after he stole second base Al Corbeil drove him home on a single to right field.

The Juice added more insurance runs in the 7th inning when Luke Barganier hit his second solo homer of the game over the right field wall giving Bradenton a 5-0 lead. Two batters later Al Corbeil singled to center field and with two outs Jean Castro hit an infield single. The following batter Brenan Herrera smacked a triple to center field that went over the head of Scott Houin driving in two runs...giving Herrera 10 RBI on the season.

In the Bottom of the 8th inning Bradenton scored two more runs when Drew York led off by reaching base on an error by second baseman Joe Cuttone. Two batters later Luke Barganier singled to left field (3rd hit of the day). Then with two outs Al Corbeil hit an infield single that brought in two Juice runs giving Bradenton a 9-0 lead.

At the plate for the Juice Luke Barganier was 3-5 with two homers and a single, scoring three times and driving in two runs. Left fielder Al Corbeil was 4-5 with three singles and solo homer in the third inning. Corbeil scored two runs and he now has a team-high 20 RBI after getting 3 RBI vs. the Foxhounds on Saturday. The third Juice player to notch three hits was Jean Castro who was 3-4 with two singles and a double. The four home runs by Bradenton set a single game team record and the Juice's season total of homers jumped from 12 to 16 on Saturday night.

On the mound for Bradenton Brian Gartley (2-1) went 6.1 innings allowing 0 runs on 8 hits, he walked two and struck out 7 batters. Jesse Krause (2-2) who came into the game with the top ERA in the South Coast League (1.33) took the loss going 5 innings, allowing 4 runs (all earned) on 9 hits, walking 2 and striking out 5.

Bradenton is now 16-9 on the season while Aiken falls to 16-10. The Juice are now one game behind South Georgia who is on top of the standings at 17-8. Bradenton is 8-2 over its past ten games and the Juice have won 7 straight series.
