Colorado Rapids News Release

Despite outshooting the Revolution 21 to nine Saturday night, Mastroeni's men were unable to find the back of the net. The Rapids fell to the reigning Eastern Conference champions by the score of 2-0 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. Rapids Media Group caught up with Juan Ramirez who, among things, spoke about the team's mentality and what might be keeping them from scoring.

Next up for the Young DP and the rest of the group is a trip to the heart of Texas to take on FC Dallas on Friday night.

The team must feel unsatisfied after another match without scoring and losing its first match of the season. How is the group feeling at the moment?

"We are in fact a bit frustrated [with the result over the weekend]. I think we made enough sacrifices to win the game. They were able to capitalize in the only two real chances they had all game and that was all they needed."

On Saturday night, the team outshot the Revolution 17 to nine, and looked like the better of the two for most of the match. With that being said, what do you think is keeping the team from scoring?

"Honestly, I think we have just been unlucky. We are doing all the right things; the opportunities were there for us throughout the game but we just can't seem to find the back of the net.

We will keep training the same way we have been in order for us to start getting positive results."

Thinking ahead to this Friday's match against FC Dallas, is the team doing anything specifically to face the second place team in the Western Conference?

"No, we will approach training with the same mentality. We will work throughout the week in order to arrive in Dallas the best possible way on Friday.

We will play every team with the same attitude; it doesn't matter if they are in first place or in last.

We cannot be afraid of anyone. If we focus on what we need to do then we will end up with more wins than losses at the end of the season."

The game against the Revolution saw your second consecutive start. How do you feel physically and mentally?

"I am feeling very good. In order to be mentally ready, the player needs to play, and it's what I want to do most. Physically, I also feel much better. I was a bit out of form at first and needed some time to adjust.

I've been adapting little by little and now that I've played two games from the start, I'll only keep improving."
