Toronto Rock News Release
Oakville, ON - Following a two-year hiatus, the Junior NLL Tournament will triumphantly return! The weekend-long competition features youth clubs representing their respective NLL teams from both the U.S. and Canada. Teams from three divisions will compete at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre and Glen Abbey Community Centre in Oakville, Ontario from Friday, August 26 to Sunday, August 28.
"I am absolutely thrilled to have the Jr. NLL tournament back after a couple of years away," said Toronto Rock Owner Jamie Dawick. "This event is always such a positive experience for everyone, it's just a brilliant and pure exhibition of the game of lacrosse at the youth level. Some teams will be competing for the first time in the Jr. NLL tournament, and we can't wait to welcome everyone to our home at the TRAC."
Players, coaches and staff from the NLL will take part in the weekend, which will kick off with an opening Junior NLL Skills Clinic on Thursday, August 25 available to all participating players in the tournament. The clinic will be hosted by the Toronto Rock and run by Challen Rogers, Dan Dawson, Latrell Harris and Nick Rose and include goalie-specific instruction.
On Friday evening, at the conclusion of Day 1 of the tournament, the Jr. NLL teams will participate in a Skills Competition that will pair an NLL pro with a Jr. NLL player from each squad. It's always a raucous event that brings everyone together with some friendly competition.
In total, 12 of the league's 15 franchises will send teams to compete in the tournament. Those franchises participating are: Albany, Buffalo, Calgary, Colorado, Georgia, Halifax, Panther City, Philadelphia, Rochester, San Diego, Saskatchewan and Toronto.
