Dobbie Re-Signs in San Diego

August 17, 2022 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
San Diego Seals News Release

The San Diego Seals announced today that the team has re-signed star forward Dane Dobbie. Dobbie originally joined the team as an unrestricted free agent a year ago.

"Dane was an important leader on our team last season," said General Manager and Head Coach Patrick Merrill. "He's still one of the most intense competitors and best offensive players in the game. He wants nothing more than to bring a championship to the fans in San Diego and we're excited to have him back."

In his first season with the Seals, Dobbie registered 34 goals and 74 points in 16 games played, ranking second on the team in both categories. The lefty tied a career-high with seven goals against his former team, the Calgary Roughnecks, on December 17, including his 900th career point. Dobbie became the NLL's all-time leading postseason points scorer during the Seals' 2022 playoff run.

"I can't express how excited I am to be back with the Seals for another season," said Dobbie. "I can't wait to get back down to San Diego and get to work."

Dobbie was named the NLL's Most Valuable Player after leading the league in points (115) during the 2018-19 season. He's a two-time NLL Champion, a three-time Western Division Champion and a two-time NLL All-Pro. He was the 2019 NLL Finals MVP after leading the Roughnecks to his second NLL Championship. He previously led the league in points (115, 2018-19) and goals (51, 2013-14), and registered four seasons with 40+ goals.
