Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings, proud members of the NAHL's North Division, announce the trade of forward Chad McDonald to the USHL's Des Moines Buccaneers for forward Austin Hervey.
A forward from Brighton, Michigan, Hervey started his junior career with the USA NTDP in 2009-10. During that season, he played in eleven games. A natural winner, Hervey won back-to-back state championships in high school with Novi Catholic Central High School.
From there, he moved to the Lincoln Stars where he played in 44 games, registering four goals and three assists.
Hervey started this season with the Des Moines Buccaneers. He played five games for the Bucs, scoring once.
Hervey will join the Jr. K-Wings for their three game set against the Jamestown Ironmen this weekend. He is set to wear number 28 for Kalamazoo.
Head coach, Marc Fakler, likes what Hervey can bring to the table: "Hervey brings additional junior experience to our team after playing with the USA NTDP (2009-10) and in the USHL last season for Lincoln."
Fakler also commented on the skill-set that Hervey possesses: "He will be a physical power forward and be a presence in our lineup. He has a strong work ethic, a heavy shot and his size and strength will be an asset to our team."
Hervey is committed to play at Western Michigan University next season.
