May 17, 2012 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
The beginning of the 2012-13 travel hockey season is weeks away. Early indication is that this season will feature greater change than ever before in North Texas. While all of the details surrounding the new DSTHL have not been released, NYTEX Sports and the Texas Brahmas will remain consistent with great coaches, development plans and organizational structure.
The Texas Brahmas Youth Hockey Association enters the season with a full slate of tryouts beginning Saturday, June 2nd (Click here for tryout schedule link). The Jr. Brahmas will compete at every age group from Squirt Minor thru Midget Major. Our philosophy and goals remain paralleled with USA Hockey's American Development Model and are intently focused on developing players to their highest level. As always, the NYTEX Sports Centre is committed to maintaining a family safe and friendly environment.
Our teams will primarily follow a consistent age / birth year composition at both minor and major in each division; Squirt Minor (03), Squirt Major (02), Pee Wee Minor (01), Pee Wee Major (00), Bantam Minor (99), Bantam Major (98), Midget Minor (97 & 96) and Midget Major (95 & 94). While birth year teams will be emphasized, top minor aged players may be considered by coaches for major teams as well. The coaches evaluations and decisions will determine the need for blended teams. For more information on our teams, coaches and programs, please visit www.jrbrahmas.com
The Brahmas will play a combination of games including; elite selected tournaments throughout Canada & the US at AAA, AA & A, high level local non-league games at AA, A & B, as well as regular season games in the new DSTHL in A & B divisions. While we are not limiting teams to the following, the Brahmas have developed a great partnership with CanLan Classic Tournaments and will support CCT events again this season. We will also work again with MyHockeyTournaments.com in Nashville, TN. As well as, CAN/AM Tournaments, with Montreal as our top choice for Presidents Day Weekend 2013. Naturally, Brahmas teams will also support local traditional tournaments over Labor Day (required) and Thanksgiving (optional) weekends.
