Springfield Jr. Blues News Release
Last night (Friday) the Springfield Jr. Blues took the third straight victory from the Janesville Jets in a game you hated to see either team lose. Tied at three apiece at the end of regulation, neither team could put one into the back of the net in overtime. In the ensuing shootout the Jr. Blues Trent Frey scored the game winning goal to cement the victory for the good guys.
Tonight these same two teams face off at 7:00pm. Being the last regular season home game, the Jr. Blues have one more chance to get the first home ice sweep of the year. The Janesville Jets would like nothing better than to keep that from happening. A fan bus arrived behind the Franklin P. Nelson Center this afternoon and rowdy Jets fans were preparing to cheer on their team with a tailgate party in the back parking lot. It will most likely be one of the noisiest crowds of the 2009 - 2010 hockey season. Even before game time signs began to appear around the rink and bidding on the St. Patrick's Day game Jerseys drew a lot of interest. People crowded around the table to bid on their favorite player's jersey in the hopes of taking home a unique souvenir.
Well, the Jr. Blues played their last home game of the regular season. They looked great in their Irish Jerseys, but final home game of the season was lost.
