
Jr. Blues Split with Topeka

The Jr. Blues earned a home split against South Division foe, Topeka RoadRunners. On Friday night, the Jr. Blues defeated Topeka in a shootout, with Terry Leabo scoring the game-winner. Saturday night, Topeka was able to earn a win 5-2. The Jr. Blues are in sixth place in the North Division with a 10-10-2 record.

Takacsi-Nagy and Stone score in regulation
The Topeka RoadRunners visited the Nelson Center for the first time this season. On Friday night, Oliver Takacsi-Nagy scored his first goal of the season to open the scoring 1-0. Trevor Stone would add another goal late in the first period to make it 2-0 Jr. Blues.
The RoadRunners would score 2 second period goals to even the score 2-2. It would remain 2-2 through the third period and overtime, despite both teams having a 4 on 3 man advantage in the extra period.
In the shootout, Brett Skibba would open the scoring and Terry Leabo (pictured above) would score, going fourth for the Jr. Blues. Matt Leon would score 4 of 5 shots in the shootout.
In another strong performance, Matt Leon stopped 42 of 44 saves in regulation giving the Jr. Blues a chance to win the game in the shootout.

RoadRunners beat Jr. Blues
On Saturday night the Jr. Blues came out flying, scoring the first goal of the game just 1:47 seconds in. Dylan Rosen (pictured right) scored his first goal of the season on a 3 on 2 rush. Rosen, who got a pass from McGing, buried the shot over the RoadRunners' goalie's glove.
Despite jumping out to an early lead, the RoadRunners would score the next four goals to make it 4-1 until late in the second period.
With 1.7 second left in the second Nick Anderson found Jack Sloan wide open in the slot. Sloan took a wrister that beat the RoadRunners goal low stick side to make it 4-2. Despite a great third period effort, the RoadRunners would add another goal to make it a 5-2 final.
Ryan Kellenberger had 33 saves in the loss.
Jr. Blues Travel to Kalamazoo
Games Saturday and Sunday at 2 PM
The Jr. Blues travel to Kalamazoo, Michigan this weekend to face the Kalamazoo Jr. K Wings. The teams will face off Saturday and Sunday at 2 PM Central Standard Time.
The Jr. K Wings are currently 12-8-1 and sit in fourth place in the North Division standings, 3 points ahead of the Jr. Blues. Kalamazoo was idle last weekend, while the Jr. Blues split with Topeka.

Jr. Blues Alumni Visit Springfield
Mike Jaros and Vic Heurlin visit Springfield
This past weekend Jr. Blues Alumni Mike Jaros and Vic Heurlin visited the Nelson Center. Both alumni were in town facing off against each other. Jaros currently coaches the Twin Bridges Lighting Midget Minor team, while Heurlin coaches the Romeoville Huskies Midget Minor team.
