
Jr. Blues Rally to Beat Owatonna 6-4; Take Three of Possible Four Points On The Road

The Springfield Jr. Blues erupted with four goals in a span of six & one-half minutes in the third period to beat the Owatonna Express 6-4 Saturday night.
The Blues lost to the Express in Overtime Friday night, but recieved one point for the overtime loss, giving them 3 points for the weekend and securing their third-place spot in the NAHL South Division.
In Saturday night's tilt, the Blues got goals from Scott Barrera(Brian Prost, Jon Gaffney), Nick Curry(Gaffney, Trent Frey), Matt Schaber( Alex Rasmussen), Barrera's second(Prost), Trent Frey(Gaffney, Curry) and lastly- an empty-netter by Gaffney(Denys Petrukhno). In Friday night's overtime loss, Scott Barrera(Brian Prost) and Matt Globke(Rasmusson, Jon Bobb) scored for the B! lues but Owatonna scored a short-handed goal to get the win.
Saturday's win stopped a three-game losing streak for the Blues and sets the stage for rematch with the Wichita Falls Wildcats next weekend at the Springfield Nelson Center. The Wildcats swept the Blues in front of the home crowd at the Nelson Center last weekend so the Blues will be looking for revenge. Starting time for both Friday and Saturday's game is 7:30 pm.
Friday night is "Tim Wilkerson Night". Funny Car Driver & legend Tim Wilkerson will attend the game and display his record breaking, Levi, Ray & Shoup Chevrolet Impala SS Funny Car that earned him second place in the NHRA Powerade Racing Series standings this year. Tim also recieved the Mike Aiello "Spirit Of Drag Racing Award" for his dedication the sport. He will sign autographs and drop the game puck.
Saturday night will be "Toys For Tots" Night. Any fan donating a new, unwrapped toy will get one free! voucher to a future Jr. Blues regular-season game of their ch! oice. De tails on these events to follow...
