U.S. National Team News Release

BABSON PARK, Mass. - Jerry D'Amigo (Binghamton, N.Y.) and Kyle Palmieri (Montvale N.J.) each notched goals, while Brandon Maxwell (Winter Park, Fla.) turned aside all 17 shots he saw as the U.S. National Under-18 Team defeated Manhattanville College, 2-0, in the championship game of the Babson College Invitational Tournament. Palmieiri was named the Most Valuable Player of the event.

After neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first period, D'Amigo opened the scoring at 1:37 of the second stanza. The goal came after D'Amigo picked up Palmieri's rebound in front of the net and put it past goaltender Sergiy Sorokolat.

Just 2:52 into the final frame Palmieri broke into the Manhattanville zone and fired a wrist shot from the right faceoff circle that sailed past the glove of Sorokolat to make it 2-0. Maxwell stopped each of the six shots he faced in the closing 20 minutes to earn the shutout win.

The U.S. National Under-18 Team returns to action December 5, when it travels to meet Hockey East foe University of Vermont at 8 p.m. ET.

NOTES: Along with Kyle Palmieri, defenseman Nick Mattson (Chanhassen, Minn.) and forward Jerry D'Amigo were named to the All-Tournament Team ... The U.S. National Under-18 Team improved to 3-0-0 against NCAA Division III competition this season. Team USA is 8-4-1 against NCAA competition overall.
