Jr. Blues Look For Revenge This Weekend Vs. Wildcats
February 20, 2009 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Springfield Jr. Blues News Release
The Springfield Jr. Blues are back home this weekend after sweeping Albert Lea 8-0 and 5-2 last weekend. They will take on the Wichita Falls, Texas Wildcats who have won the last four straight aagainst the Blues at the Nelson Center.
"These games are huge", states new head coach Andy Maher. "We can move within a few points of third place with a couple of wins. But more importantly, the team needs to keep the momentum going as we near the playoff season. We need to play strong defense against Topeka as they are capable of scoring if you let up", he added.
Maher is 4-1 since taking over the head coaching reigns from former coach Chris Wyler. With weekend sweeps over league-leader Topeka and Albert! Lea, the Blues, do indeed, have some momentum building. The team is drawing over 3000 fans a weekend with a high of 1700 against Topeka.
With so much on the line and after being embarrassed in front of the home crowd during Wichita's last trip here, the team should be ready to show Springfield-area hockey fans that they are serious about making a run at the Robertson Cup Championship. Game time both Friday and Saturday night is 7:30 PM
