Springfield Jr. Blues News Release
The Springfield Jr. Blues will host the Topeka RoadRunners this weekend with games at the Nelson Center on Saturday(7pm) and Sunday(2pm). Topeka is in 3rd place in the Southern Division.
With what should turn out to be a great weekend of hockey, the Topeka Booster Club has reserved 39 rooms at the Route 66 Hotel and is expected to bring a large following to the Nelson Center. The team looks at the series in Springfield as thier opportunity to catch up to South Division leader, St. Louis.
Springfield, in turn, has seen it's attendance grow each game hitting an all-season high last weekend when nearly 1300 fans turned out for the last game with St. Louis. With perhaps one of the finest games of hockey played all year, the fans got thier money's worth.
Topeka's top scorer is defenseman AAron Gens. Along with forward Corey Jendras, Topeka has some firepower.
The Blues have some weapons of thier own with team scoring leaders Matt Larke, Cory Patterson and Kyle Greco.
Springfield assistant coach Eric Ballard will take the helm, as coach Chris Wyler is serving a suspension after getting ejected form last week's St. Louis game.
DO YOU BLEED BLUE ??
This series could point back to a pivotal time for both teams, so alot is on the line.
