Jr. Blues Home Opener Friday and Saturday Night

The Jr. Blues are excited for the Home Opening weekend as they finish their longest period on the road of the season. The Jr. Blues opened the season with 8 games on the road going 4-3-1. This past weekend the Jr. Blues only managed a shootout loss earning one point versus the Johnstown Tomahawks. This weekend the Jr. Blues play the defending North Division Champion Soo Eagles Friday and Saturday night at 7:05 pm.

Johnstown score 3 straight in the win

The Jr. Blue came to play on Saturday night jumping out to a 1-0 lead on an early power-play goal by Alex Baskakov. It did not last long as the Tomahawks were able to answer quickly off a Jr. Blues turnover.

Johnstown newcomer Omar Mullen scored 2 goals in the second to give the Tomahawks a 3-1 lead going into the 3rd period. The familiar combination of Max Kalter from Patrick Curry brought the Jr. Blues within one late in the game but it was not enough as they ran out of time.

Sandro Aeschlimann earned his first loss of the season stopping 17 of 20 shots in the game.

Team Earns First Shootout Loss of the Year

The Jr. Blues streak of 3 straight wins in a shootout ended on Sunday afternoon after a hard fought 2-2 game.

The Tomahawks opened up scoring in the 2nd period as Omar Mullen scored his 3rd goal of the weekend. But Patrick Curry scored to tie the game on the power-play from Max Kalter.

Davis DeKorte scored quickly in the 3rd period to give the Jr. Blues a 2-1 lead before the Tomahawks would tie the game and send it into overtime and a shootout.

Stefanios Lekkas stopped 36 of 38 shots in the 3-2 loss.

Home Opener Friday and Saturday Night

Soo Eagles come to Springfield

The Jr. Blues home opener is Friday night at 7:05. The game is presented by Neuhoff Media. Bondsy with be hosting his radio show on 99.7 from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Nelson Center. The first 250 fans will receive a team poster to commemorate the game.

Saturday's game will be at 7:05 pm against the Soo. Fans can enjoy a skate with the team immediately following the game. The skate is free, fans can bring their own skates or rent them.

Season Tickets are for sale online or can be purchased at the Jr. Blues office on the 2nd floor of the Nelson Center. Season Tickets are $224 for adults and $150 for children. Season Ticket holders will receive reserved seating for all regular season and playoff games, plus 15% off all Jr. Blues merchandise. Additional benenfits include, membership in the Friends of the Jr. Blues club, that entitles one to discounts at participating Jr. Blues Partnered Businesses.

Coach Zasowski Hosts weekly Coaches Show

The Jr. Blues have once again partnered with Neuhoff Media to spotlight the team and keep fans informed of team doings.

Bondsy's Hockey Stool : The Jr. Blues will do a featured player of the week that will visit Kiss FM's Morning show every Wednesday of home weekends at 8:30 am. The show will Feature Coach Tony Zasowski and a Select Jr. Blue including a 10 question rapid fire by Bondsy.

Behind the Bench with Coach Zow

This is a new 15 minute radio segment where Host Andrew Harby and Coach Tony Zasowski will talk in depth about the Jr. Blues.
