The Blues came back on Saturday and did it all over again to the Express. Steve Mohler ignited the Blues with a hat trick and the Blues stunned the Express with another wide-margin win. Taylor Kennedy, Jarod Rickord and Darren Rowe all added tallies to secure the win.
Mohler had 5 points on the weekend and played some of his best hockey since being sidelined with mono earlier in the season. Phil Cook tended the nets for both gamesw and made big saves when the Express got rare scoring chances.
With the wins, the Blues move back into second place in the Central Division and hit the 50 point mark for the season.
Thye Blues host 1st place N. Iowa next weekend in 3 games at the Nelson Center. While the Outlaws have a stronghold on 1st place, the games will set the stage for the playoffs, which begin at the end of March. N. Iowa has to play in Springfield 5 times before the end of the season.
"The long break(18 days) gave us a chance to rest and heal up", says coach Chris Wyler. " The boys are hitting their stride at exactly the right time. It's not how you start, but how you finish that's important. We are going to lay it all on the line at the finish. We didn't make alot of changes with personel this year as we always felt we had a good group of kids who could compete. They are proving us right and it should be an exciting end to the season".
