Josh Phegley Activated off D.L.

WINSTON-SALEM, NC (JUNE 27, 2010) - The Winston-Salem Dash today activated catcher Josh Phegley off the disabled list and received former Wake Forest University pitcher Drew O'Neil from low-A Kannapolis.
Phegley, a supplemental first round draft pick by the White Sox in 2009, was placed on the D.L. just over a week into the season on April 16. He was hitting .259 with a double and one RBI in six games prior to being placed on the D.L. Phegley recently completed a five-game rehab assignment with Advanced Rookie Bristol, going 3 for 15 (.200) with a double, one RBI, and one run scored. He caught all nine innings of last night's game and went 0 for 4 at the plate.
O'Neil bolsters a Dash bullpen that lost a key component when RHP Dan Remenowsky was injured on Thursday night. The right-hander was 2-2 with one save and a 4.06 ERA in 22 appearances with the Intimidators this season, his second with Kannapolis. He went 4-1 with one save and a 2.54 ERA in 2009 with the Intimidators.
Chicago selected the Roswell, Georgia native in the fourth round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft out of Penn State University, where he was First-Team All-Big Ten in 2007 and 2008. O'Neil went 0-2 with a 1.88 ERA and 11 saves for the Nittany Lions in 2008 and was a candidate for the NBCWA Stopper of the Year Award.
O'Neil began his college career at Wake Forest University, but never pitched for the Demon Deacons. He sat out his freshman season after undergoing Tommy John surgery before transferring to Young Harris (GA) College. He spent one season with the Mountain Lions before attending Penn State.
The Dash roster has reached the Carolina League limit of 25 players.
Winston-Salem begins a six-game home stand tonight with a series against the Salem Red Sox. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. at BB&T Ballpark as RHP Terry Doyle (2-3, 3.71) opposes RHP Brock Huntzinger (6-3, 2.83).
