CARY, NC - North Carolina FC defender Jordan Skelton has been named to the USL League One Team of the Week for Week One of the 2022 regular season, the club announced today.

"Very grateful to be named in the team of the week, all glory to God," Skelton said. "Honestly, it could have been any of the boys from Saturday, it was truly a team performance. From the starting 11 to the lads that came on, everyone ran through brick walls for each other, that's why we came away with the positive result."

Posting an impressive performance in Saturday's match against South Georgia Tormenta FC, Skelton donned the captain's band in his NCFC debut, leading the backline to a shutout victory on the road against his former team. Throughout the contest, the Newcastle, England native collected six interceptions and a week-high 12 clearances in 90 minutes of playing time.

"This is a well-deserved recognition for Jordan for his performance on Saturday night," said Head Coach John Bradford. "He's willing to leave everything on the field for his teammates and it's a contagious passion for the game that our group is fortunate to have. I'm pleased with his start to the season and know that he still has a ton of room for growth this year."

North Carolina FC returns to action at WakeMed Soccer Park this Wednesday, April 6 at 7 p.m. ET to take on Rio Grande Valley FC in the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
