Bakersfield Blitz News Release

Bakersfield Blitz defensive specialist and return specialist J'Sharlon Jones moved two steps closer to setting a new single season franchise record in field goal return yards.

Jones currently has recorded six returns for 174 yards and one touchdown. He now only needs two yards to break the record that was set by former Blitz offensive specialist Steve Wofford. In 2002, Wofford returned ten field goals for 175 yards, while Jones returned five field goals for 58 yards. Although Jones only had two opportunities last weekend against the San Diego Riptide, he made the most of them, returning the two back for 34 yards. In order for Jones to crack the top10 af2 regular season record book he will need at the minimum 146 yards throughout the final seven games.

Lawrence Pullen, who set the record with 393 yards in 2000, for the Carolina Rhinos, holds the current af2 record for most field goal return yards.
