COLUMBUS WARDOGS (2-6) AT BIRMINGHAM STEELDOGS (4-4)
FRIDAY, JUNE 6, 2003 - BIRMINGHAM-JEFFERSON CIVIC CENTER (15,000) 8:30 P.M. ET

The Columbus Wardogs head to Birmingham looking to bust a six-game losing streak against the Steeldogs. Last week the Wardogs awoke from its offensive slump, tagging the unbeaten Vipers for 55 points. Despite the loss, the Wardogs scored as many points in that single game than it has in the three previous games combined. QB KYLE ROWLEY tossed six touchdowns in the game, including two to JAMES DICKERSON who tallied his 500th career point. Defensively, DESMOND WASHINGTON leads the Wardogs with 35.5 tackles and two interceptions. The Steeldogs ended a two-game slide with a 63-37 thumping of the Macon Knights last week. In that game, WR/DB ANTHONY JORDAN scored four receiving touchdowns and recorded two interceptions, earning league Ironman of the Week honors in the process. Team-leading receiver ARYVIA HOLMES re-joined the team this week after spending a few weeks in the CFL. Holmes has 46 catches for 587 yards and 13 touchdowns in five games this season. QB CHRIS WINDSOR has been spectacular for the Steeldogs since coming aboard three games ago. Windsor has thrown 12 touchdowns and only one interception with his 53 attempts this season. The Steeldogs, who are 3-1 at home this season, have never lost to the Wardogs. Birmingham, who is in third place in the South division, sits two spots back of the American Conference's final wildcard spot, while Columbus sits two games in back of the Steeldogs.
