Joliet Slammers News Release
Joliet, IL - The Joliet Slammers presented by ATI Physical Therapy found magic on Princess Night, feeding off each other's offensive production. With a total of 10 hits and never behind on the scoreboard, the Slammers would defeat the Boomers in game 2 of the series, 7-3.
Joliet struck first in their first few plate appearances when London Lindley stole home on a throw down to 2nd , in attempt to catch L.J. Kalawaia stealing. Later, shortstop Chaz Meadows would send an RBI single up the middle to stretch their lead to 2-0.
The 3rd inning held the most scoring for both teams. The Boomers would put up 2 runs of their own, but Joliet responded. Three RBI singles hit by R.J. Thompson, Lindley, and Meadows, would help to build the lead. Ridge Hoopii-Haslam hit a 2 RBI double down the 3rd base line, making it a 7-2 ballgame.
The score would hold until the 9th, where the Boomers would bring home 1 run, but could not tie the game, improving the Slammers record to 37-28. Schaumburg falls to 35-30. Tonight's Merchants and Manufacturers Bank Player of the Game goes to Chaz Meadows for his efficiency at the plate today (2-4, 2 RBIs).
The Slammers return for Game 3 Sunday afternoon at 1:05.
