Joliet JackHammers News Release
JOLIET, IL - The Joliet JackHammers have announced that the contract of LF Brad Correll has been purchased by the Boston Red Sox. He will be assigned to the High-A Salem Red Sox (VA) of the Carolina League effective immediately.
Joliet claimed Correll off waivers from the Kansas City T-Bones on June 26. He made an immediate impact, batting .286 with 7 home runs, 38 runs batted in, and a team-high .397 on-base percentage in 40 games for the JackHammers.
The Gastonia, NC native was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 23rd round (855th overall) of the 2002 draft. He was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies in 2004. After spending time in the Pirates and Marlins organizations, he signed with the Kansas City T-Bones of the Northern League in 2007. He has started each of the past two seasons with the T-Bones, and finished each season in a major league organization: the Red Sox in 2007 and the Royals in 2008.
The JackHammers are currently home through Wednesday, August 19. On Saturday, August 15 the JackHammers present Rally the King of Bling. Come out to the ballpark to see some of his crazy antics.
