Cedar Rapids, IA - Do you have what it takes to be a member of the Kernels Strike Force? If so, then the Kernels are looking for you.
The Kernels Strike Force is a cheerleader-like interactive squad that performs various tasks at Kernels home baseball games. Strike Force members participate in on-field contests including t-shirt launches, and prize giveaways. They perform short dance routines between innings and assist the Kernels mascot, Mr. Shucks. They also make appearances as a unit, or with Mr. Shucks, at a variety of community, sponsor and select marketing events.
Strike Force members must be comfortable performing in front of crowds in excess of 3,000 people and be good interacting with fans while wearing cheerleader-like attire. Previous experience as a dancer, cheerleader, performer or pep squad member is preferred, but not required. They must have outstanding public speaking and communication skills and a positive, energetic personality. And, they must be able to work with brief instruction and supervision and be flexible with quick and professional responses to any situation.
The Strike Force is a part-time seasonal position from April through September. Availability to work home game nights, weekends and holidays is required, plus other special events as needed. Pay is on a per-event basis.
Interested applicants should plan on attending the Kernels Summer Job Fair on Thursday, March 1st from 4 to 8 pm, or Saturday, March 3rd from 9 to 11 am held in Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Those that can't make the Job Fair should download an application from the Kernels website (www.kernels.com ) and include a letter of interest and a resume.

The Cedar Rapids Kernels open the 2012 season on the road at Wisconsin on Thursday, April 5, with the home opener on Monday, April 9 vs. Clinton at 6:35 pm. Season tickets and 10-game coupon books are on sale now at www.kernels.com, with individual game tickets going on sale Monday, March 19 at 10 am.
