(BUFFALO, NY) â The Buffalo Destroyers announced a couple roster moves prior to their first place showdown with Eastern Division leader the New Jersey Gladiators.
OL/DL Jeremy Johnson has been added to the team's 24-man roster. Johnson signed with the Destroyers in the off-season and was added to the practice squad prior to the season opener.
Johnson spent last season with the Wichita Stealth of the AF2. He led the team with 11.5 sacks and was fourth in tackles with 24. Johnson was a four-year letter winner at Western Michigan. He was named honorable mention All-MAC at defensive lineman his senior year.
The Fleet put OL/DL David Caldwell on the injured reserve with an Achilles injury. Caldwell, a 10 year AFL veteran, appeared in the Destroyers first nine games recording four tackles, one pass defense, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble. Caldwell scored his second career touchdown week 4 vs. Detroit as he recovered a fumble in the endzone.
The team also waived OL/DL Ryan Shuff from the practice squad.
Johnson and company head to New Jersey Sunday, June 23 to battle the Gladiators. Kickoff is set for 3:00PM at the Continental Airlines Arena. The game will be on radio at WNSA 107.7 FM and WJTN 1240 AM. The game can also be seen on tape delay on the YES Network Sunday night at 8:30PM.
