AFL I Arena Football League (1987-2008)

Georgia Brings Force to Rampage

June 21, 2002 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release

NEW YORK (June 21, 2002) – The Georgia Force (4-5) take a three-game winning streak into the home of the Arena Football League's defending ArenaBowl champs, the Grand Rapids Rampage (5-4), when they head to Van Andel Arena on The New TNN Sunday, June 23 at 2:00 PM ET/PT.

The Rampage, led by All-Arena quarterback CLINT DOLEZEL, continue their quest for a back-to-back title on the support of a potent offense. With targets like league-leading scorer STEVE SMITH (150 points) and defending "Built Ford Tough" Man of the Year GARY COMPTON (eight touchdowns in last four games), Dolezel has the Rampage offense racking up an AFL-best 310.3 yards per game, while trying to stay at the forefront of a tight-race in the Central Division.

The league's youngest head coach, Georgia's MARTY LOWE (30 years old) has been gaining experience and momentum each week. The first-year head coach has the Force on a hot streak, while his offense continues the put up points, more than 50 per game. A product of Georgia Tech and former ArenaBowl MVP (1997), quarterback DONNIE DAVIS has shined since taking over as the Force's starter (3-1 in last four games). The AFL's Ironman of the Week, DARRYL HAMMOND (four touchdowns against Carolina last week) seeks a repeat performance as Georgia positions themselves for the hotly contested Southern Division crown.

The New TNN's Arena Football announcing team of play-by-play man ELI GOLD and former Tennessee Volunteer defensive back CHARLES DAVIS will call the action from Van Andel Arena. Current CBS NFL and NCAA college football sideline reporter JILL ARRINGTON will serve as halftime host and sideline reporter.
