John Snowden Named CHL Player of the Week
FORT WORTH, Texas (February 18) - The Central Hockey League announced Monday that Fort Worth Brahmas forward John Snowden was named Oakley CHL Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, February 17.
Last week, Snowden posted 10 points (seven goals, three assists) and a +3 plus/minus rating, as the Brahmas went 3-1-0 in four games, including three wins on the road.
The Everett, Washington native exploded for five goals, four of which came in the second period, in Wednesday's 7-1 rout of the Arizona Sundogs. Snowden's five goals in a single game set a Brahmas franchise record, as did the four scores in a single period. The five-goal performance was also only one score shy of the CHL mark.
Since joining the Brahmas December 21, Snowden has notched 36 points (21 goals, 15 assists) and a +8 plus/minus in 26 games played. The 6-foot, 205-pound winger spent the first 22 games of the season with the Rapid City Rush. His 47-point season total ranks tied for 13th in the CHL. More importantly, since he became a member of the Brahmas, Fort Worth is 18-7-1. The team is 15-3-0 in games when Snowden scores a point.
This is the seventh accolade awarded to a Brahma this season and third for Snowden, who also won Player of the Week for the period ending January 13 and First Star of the Month for January. Brad Fogal was Goalie of the Week for the period ending February 10 and the team's other netminder, Kristofer Westblom, won Rookie of the Month for January and Goalie of the Week for the period ending December 2. Fort Worth forward Phil Fox was also named Player of the Week for the period ending November 18.
The Brahmas have three upcoming games this week, including a home-and-away double-header versus the cross-town rival Allen Americans Saturday, February 23 at the NYTEX Sports Centre and Sunday, February 24 at the Allen Event Center. Fort Worth also hosts the Missouri Mavericks Friday, February 22 at 7:30pm at the NYTEX Sports Centre.
