Mallards Weekly Update
The Mallards bounced back from a three game winless streak (0-2-1) with last Saturday's 3-2 home win over Arizona.
With last Saturday's win, the Mallards moved within three points of the Sundogs in the race for the final CHL playoff spot. Arizona dropped into eighth place with that defeat. The Mallards have four games in hand on the Sundogs. Last Saturday's game was the final match-up of the season between Quad City and Arizona.
Home Sweet Home
The Mallards tomorrow night wrap up a four-game homestand on which they have so far gone 1-1-1.
The Mallards have gone 14-10-3 in their last 27 games after starting the season 7-11-3.
On the Road
The Mallards start a five-game road trip- their longest of the season- this Friday night in Denver. The Mallards will also visit Rapid City, Bloomington and Missouri on the trip. After tomorrow night, the Mallards do not play at home again until Sunday, March 3 against Fort Worth.
The Mallards' Anthony Perdicaro was suspended for two games after being assessed a game misconduct for abuse of officials in the Mallards' game last Tuesday against Bloomington and as a result missed both of last weekend's games.
The First 1,000 Are the Toughest
Shayne Toporowski played his one thousandth career game last Tuesday against Bloomington. Toporowski is in his first season with the Mallards and the eighteenth year of a career that has seen him play for 16 teams- including the National Hockey League's Toronto Maple Leafs- in nine leagues on two continents.
The Mallards have gone 1-for-15 on the power play over their last four games and rank eighth in power play efficiency (14.9 percent). The Mallards have killed off their opponents' last 11 power plays. They lead the league in shorthanded goals (8) and rank fourth in penalty killing (84.5 percent)
Mickey Lang leads the league in shorthanded goals (4), is tied for the league lead in game winning goals (6), is tied for fourth in goals (26), ranks seventh in points (57) and is tied for sixth in power play goals (8). Bob Preece ranks fourth in plus/minus (+17) and Mike Hellyer is tied for fifth (+16). Among rookies, Hellyer is tied for the league lead in points (44), ranks second in assists (26) and is tied for third in goals (18) with Mike Stinziani, who ranks fourth in points (37) and assists (19). Matt Duffy is tied for fifth among defensemen in assists (22) and ranks eighth in points (27). Preece is tied for ninth among blue liners in goals (6). John Murray ranks sixth in save percentage (.914) and Neil Conway is tied for eighth (.910).
Toporowski played his one thousandth career game last Tuesday against Bloomington... Tyler Amburgey made his professional debut last Friday against Rapid City and recorded his first career point- an assist- last Saturday against Arizona...Duffy has played 199 career games...Terry Ruskowski has coached his teams to 396 CHL wins... Jason Kostadine has played 496 career games... Gabriel Boutin-Gagnon has played 95 career games.
The Mallards have gone 2-1-1 against Rapid City this season. The Mallards have gone 1-0-1 on home ice against the Rush. All-time, the Mallards have gone 8-5-1 against Rapid City...The Mallards this weekend make their first ever visit to Denver. The Mallards have gone 2-0-0 against the expansion Cutthroats this season.

Single game tickets for all Mallards regular season contests are now available. Single game tickets are also available at the i wireless Center box office, at Ticketmaster outlets, through www.ticketmaster.com or through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free. The box office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on game days from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period. Individual game tickets are available for $13 in the upper level, $18 in the lower level and $25 for the first row along the glass for adults. Tickets for kids 12 and under are available for $5 off adult rates.
Groups of at least ten can receive savings off the walk-up price and a host of other great group benefits.
