Albany FireWolves News Release
The Albany FireWolves of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) today announce that forward John Piatelli has been named to the league's All-Rookie Team.
In his debut season, Piatelli finished fourth on the FireWolves with 18 goals, and fifth on the club with 39 total points and 21 assists. The rookie became a crucial part of Albany's offense during the second half of the season and ended the year by scoring multiple points and at least one goal in each of his last seven games. Prior to joining the FireWolves, Piatelli was a standout attackman at Cornell University. In his senior season in 2022, Piatelli was First-Team All-Ivy League and was on the Final Tewaaraton watch list. As a senior, he led the nation in scoring with 3.56 goals per game while scoring 66 goals in just 19 outings.
"My first year with the FireWolves was awesome!" said Piatelli. "I enjoyed learning box lacrosse, and it was a great locker room to be a part of. The season had its challenges, but I am looking forward to learning from those challenges and coming back stronger for next year."
"This was John's first season of indoor lacrosse at this level and his growth was impressive," said Glenn Clark, Head Coach of the FireWolves. "He will continue to get better and learn the nuances of the NLL. We expect John to continue to develop and work towards a long and successful NLL career."
