Johansson Reassigned from South Carolina

PORTLAND, ME- Portland Pirates Head Coach Tim Army announced today that Jonas Johansson has been reassigned from the South Carolina Stingrays (ECHL) back to Portland (AHL). Johansson has registered nine points (3 goals, 6 assists) in 50 games this season with the Pirates.

A native of Sweden, Johansson was a first round draft pick of the Colorado Avalanche in 2002 (28th overall). Last season, Johansson appeared in all 72 games for Kamloops of the WHL, tallying 18 goals and 19 assists. He also tied for third on the team in goals and ranked fourth in points (37). Johansson ended up tied for the team leads in game-winning goals (5). The right winger, appeared in all five playoff games for Kamloops, scoring two goals, including one shorthanded, and two assists those combined put him tied for the team lead in playoff points with four.

The Pirates return to action on Friday at home against the Springfield Falcons at 7:05 p.m. At this game, the winners will be chosen for "Shirts off Their Backs" as each player will give his game-worn jersey away to a lucky fan in attendance. The night will also feature the 2004-05 Player Awards. It will also be "Go Red" Night to support the American Heart Association. The first 1,000 kids will receive a red glow stick courtesy of KeyBank and the American Heart Association. Fans are encouraged to wear red and support the Pirates and the American Heart Association.
