Syracuse Silver Knights News Release

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Joey Tavernese tallied four goals and two assists to power the Syracuse Silver Knights (11-8, Eastern Division #2) past the Cedar Rapids Rampage (5-15, Cenral Division #4) 14-5 at the War Memorial.

Tavernese has been remarkable over the weekend. He scored a hat-trick against Harrisburg on Friday.

"I'm not the best player. I'm not the most talented, but I can do the little things that put me on equal level as the better players in the league," Tavernese said post game. "I like to work on the things that I'm not doing well. Last week it was finishing, sometimes good things work out, and I scored a bunch of goals this week."

The ex-Lancers forward has scored 15 goals in 10 appearances.

Eight other Silver Knights saw their name on the scoresheet. JJ Gibson led the group with three goals; Vittorio Petrera, Bo Jelovac, Darren Toby, Jake Schindler, Kenardo Forbes, Nate Bourdeau and Slavisa Ubiparipovic each collected strikes.

Andrew Coughlin earned his sixth start in goal. The Canisius grad made 13 stops and improved his record to 5-1.

The victory extended SSK's great run of form. Tommy Tanner's team has won six of its last eight.

The Salt City club will finish the regular season on Friday night against the Harrisburg Heat at 7:30 pm in the War Memorial. On Saturday at 7:00 pm, the Syracuse will start the 2016 MASL Playoffs against the Detroit Waza at home. Single game and playoff tickets are selling fast.
