Joes Fall to Charlotte County, 13-5
June 14, 2007 - South Coast League (SCL)
Anderson Joes News Release
Hosting the only team they've beaten twice this season, the Anderson Joes hoped to make it three wins against the visiting Charlotte County Redfish on Thursday. Instead, Charlotte County posted a season-high 13 runs in defeating Anderson, 13-5, in front of 913 at Anderson Memorial Stadium.
As has been the case for Anderson (5-19) all year, the big inning plagued the Joes once again when Charlotte County (5-19) plated seven runs in the top of the fourth inning on the way to the win. The Joes took a 3-1 lead into the fourth, but after Josh Murray's three-run homer drove in the final runs of the frame, Anderson never sniffed the lead again.
The Joes would score once in the fourth and fifth innings, but the Redfish tacked on two runs in both the eighth and ninth innings for added insurance. Mike Muscato led the way for the 'Fish with a 4-for-6 night, including a run and four RBI. Billy Kovatch made his Charlotte County debut with a 2-for-3 night, three runs scored and one RBI.
Tyler Addison took the loss for the Joes, lasting only 3.1 innings, allowing five runs on four hits and four walks. His record is now 1-2. Justin Ottman allowed two runs in 2.1 innings for the Redfish, but he left as the pitcher of record and earned his first win of the year against no losses.
Despite the loss, a number of Joes offered good performances. Ryan Pressley went 4-for-5 with a run scored and his team-leading 17th RBI of the season. Richard Quihuis-Bell went 2-for-3 with a run scored and also walked twice.
Still, the good individual performances have not sufficed for the Joes, who lost their fourth straight game.
"It kinda hurts real bad," Pressley said. "When they put up that seven spot, it really hurt real bad. But as long as we get on it and keep getting hits, that's all we can do."
