Aiken Foxhounds News Release

AIKEN, S.C. - The Aiken Foxhounds and the Bradenton Juice had to wait five days to finish last Saturday's suspended series finale. Thanks to Chad Miller and Gary Lee, who were not on the Foxhounds' roster when the game started, Aiken (15-8) was happy they waited as the Hounds downed the Juice 3-1 Thursday night at Roberto Hernandez Stadium on a walk-off home run from Miller in the bottom of the 14 th inning. Lee, making his second appearance on the mound, earned the win and singled ahead of Miller's home run.

With one out in the 14 th, Lee stepped to the plate for his first-ever professional plate appearance. Lee had no trouble, hitting a single up the middle against Bradenton reliever David Lipson (0-1). Miller, who joined the team Wednesday, followed with a drive to deep center to end the game.

The game picked up Thursday where the teams left it last Saturday, with Aiken coming up to bat in the bottom of the tenth. The Foxhounds immediately threatened, getting a runner in scoring position with a Miller single and a walk to Joe Cuttone. Both were stranded when Garth McKinney struck out to end the threat.

The Hounds then stranded three more in the 11 th and a lone runner in the 12th before they were set down in order in the 13th.

Meanwhile, Aiken relievers A.J. Montano and Lee were unhittable on the mound. Montano, who also pitched the tenth inning Saturday, retired all six batters he faced in the 11th and 12th innings.

Lee (1-0), signed by the team on Tuesday, set the Juice hitters down in order in both the 13 th and 14th innings. Lee, who struck out two, has now retired all nine batters he has faced in professional baseball after finishing his collegiate career at USC Aiken in May.

For the game, four Aiken relievers combined to pitch nine scoreless innings, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out six.

Miller went 2-for-3 with a run and two RBI in the game while Jeff Landry, who is no longer with the team, went 2-for-4. In an odd twist, it was Miller who took over the leadoff spot in the lineup that Landry occupied when the game began Saturday.

Brennan Herrera was the only Juice player with more than one hit, going 2-for-6 in the contest.
