July 5, 2010 - California League (CalL1)
Lancaster JetHawks News Release

A potent offense and stellar starting pitching from Kyle Greenwalt proved to be a successful formula for the JetHawks as Lancaster overwhelmed Inland Empire 8-2 before a capacity crowd of 6,078 at Clear Channel Stadium on Independence Day. The JetHawks drew first blood with a pair of runs in the opening frame. After Jay Austin doubled to start the inning, Albert Cartwright laid down a sacrifice bunt, which caused a fielding error from 66ers first baseman Austin Gallagher. The speedy Austin scored on the play to give Lancaster a 1-0 edge. Freddy Parejo added an RBI single later in the frame, which scored Brandon Barnes.

Lancaster extended its lead with three runs off 66ers starter Josh Walter (0-5) in the bottom of the fourth. Andy Simunic laced an RBI double into the left field corner and Brandon Wikoff followed with a two-run single, which gave the JetHawks a commanding 5-0 lead.

Meanwhile, Greenwalt (3-6) turned in one his best performances of the season for Lancaster. The 21-year-old right-hander scattered six hits, but held Inland Empire scoreless through six innings. He issued two walks and recorded three strikeouts en route to picking up his third win of the season.

The JetHawks tacked on three more runs in the eighth to seal the victory. With the win, Lancaster improved to 5-6 in the second half and 28-53 overall. The 66ers dropped to 4-7 in the second half and 30-51 overall.

The JetHawks and 66ers will square off again Monday night. Lancaster will start right-hander Leandro Cespedes (0-2, 5.68 ERA). Inland Empire is expected to counter with RHP Ethan Martin (8-6, 5.05 ERA).
