(LANCASTER, CA) - Former Big Leaguer Angel Salome went 4-for-5 with two home runs and two RBIs to lift High Desert over Lancaster 10-6 at Clear Channel Stadium Thursday. As a result, Lancaster had to settle for a split in the four-game series. Austin Wates went 4-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI for the JetHawks.

Salome, who played in three games for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2008, belted a solo home run off JetHawks starter Zach Grimmett (4-4) in the top of the second. High Desert added another run in the inning on a sacrifice fly from Steve Baron.

The JetHawks cut the deficit in half with a run in the bottom of the third. Andy Simunic ripped a leadoff triple off Mavericks starter Forrest Snow. Jay Austin drove in Simunic with a sacrifice fly, which made it a 2-1 ballgame.

High Desert answered immediately with six runs in the top of the fourth. The Mavericks collected five hits in the frame, four of which went for extra bases. Salome tripled and scored on Jake Schlander's sacrifice fly. Later in the inning, Gabriel Noriega hit an RBI triple and Daniel Carroll added an RBI double. Denny Almonte's three-run homer chased Grimmett from the contest and gave the Mavericks an 8-1 edge.

The JetHawks got a run back in the bottom of the frame on an RBI double by Rene Garcia. Lancaster added two more runs in the fifth when Wates hit an RBI double and Kody Hinze delivered an RBI groundout, which made it a 9-5 ballgame. Salome hit his second solo homer of the night off Shane Wolf in the top of the sixth, but the JetHawks answered with a solo homer from Garcia, his first home run since April 19, 2010, in the bottom of the frame.

Snow (1-2) earned the win for High Desert. The loss dropped Lancaster to 2-6 in the second half and 30-47 overall. High Desert improved to 5-3 in the second half and 37-41 overall.
