Lancaster JetHawks News Release
(Bakersfield, CA) - The JetHawks have scored the most runs of any team in the California League this season. However, a hard throwing Bakersfield Blaze starter shutdown the Lancaster offense and led the Blaze to a 5-0 win on Thursday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark.
Blaze right-hander Thomas Diamond allowed only three hits over seven innings as the JetHawks were shut out for the first time in over a year. Diamond also struck out 14 JetHawks hitters in the game.
Lancaster starter Matt Chico did not allow a hit until the fourth inning. However, in that inning the Blaze scored four times to open a big lead in the game.
Diamond and Clint Brannan only allowed one hit to the JetHawks over the final six innings of the game.
The road trip continues on Friday as the JetHawks will meet the Visalia Oaks for the first time this year. Garrett Mock will go to the mound for the JetHawks in the 7:05 P.M. game at Recreation Park.
