Jessie Kenlaw Joins Donovan's Staff For Fourth Season With Team

SEATTLE - The Seattle Storm today re-signed Jessie Kenlaw as an assistant coach for the 2006 WNBA season, Storm Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Anne Donovan announced.
Jessie Kenlaw is in her seventh season as an assistant coach in the WNBA and her fourth with the Storm under head coach Anne Donovan.
"I'm excited to re-join the Storm organization and thrilled about having another opportunity to work with Anne and the players that are a part of the most memorable moments of my career," said Kenlaw. "I'm looking forward to another successful season in Seattle."
Kenlaw, who also serves as one of the Storm's primary college scouts, joined Seattle's staff after spending three seasons with the Portland Fire under Linda Hargrove. Kenlaw was an assistant of Hargrove's with the Colorado Xplosion of the ABL in the 1998-99 season.
"It's great to have Jessie committed to the Storm once again," said Donovan. "Jessie has been instrumental in the team's success and in player development. She is invaluable as we pursue another championship. The players love working with Jessie and her personality is one that unifies and energizes this team."
Kenlaw was the head coach of the University of Houston's women's basketball team for eight years (1990 through 1998), compiling a career record of 106-121 and leading the Lady Cougars to postseason play two times. She played professionally and was a pioneer in the Women's Professional Basketball League from 1979 through 1982 with the Houston Angels and Phoenix Flames. She helped lead the Angels to the league Championship in 1980.
The Storm will open their 2006 season against Western Conference rival Los Angeles at KeyArena on Sunday, May 21 at 6 p.m. The following Tuesday, May 23, Seattle will host the Houston Comets at 8 p.m. at the Key. The Storm vs. Comets game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2.
