SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - The Pacifics (16 "" 11), won the first game of the three game series 3 "" 0 against the Vallejo Admirals (15 "" 13). Starting pitcher Jesse Smith went eight innings and only allowed four hits while striking out seven. A solo homerun from Matt Kavanaugh in the fifth inning lifted the Pacifics over the Admirals.

For the second night in a row, the Pacifics found themselves in a pitching duel. Smith (3 "" 3) won a hard fought battle against Admirals Troy Marks (1 "" 1) in Friday's game.

"I just tried to battle when runners were on and my pitches were working for me, I tried to keep them guessing", stated Smith. "My defense made some great plays behind me, I had a lot of help from them"

Kavanaugh lead off the fifth inning with a solo home run to center field for the Pacifics first hit and run of the game. Admirals center fielder, Tillman Pugh, gave a valiant effort but fell short of robbing the home run. The solo shot by Kavanaugh was his second home run in the past three games at Albert Park.

"I mean I still took the same approach [after the homerun], I just focused a little more, I still wanted to be aggressive", Smith explained.

In the sixth inning the Pacifics added to their lead. Mike Orefice reached second base after an error by the Admirals left fielder, Brandon Williams. Maikel Jova followed driving in Orefice after he ripped a single to center field giving the Pacifics a 2-0 lead.

Zack Pace tacked on another run in the seventh with an RBI single to drive in Chase Fontaine for the Pacifics' third run of the game.

Colin Allen recorded his second save in as many days with a clean ninth inning. The save was his fifth on the season.
