Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA - This Friday night at CenturyTel Center is your chance to not only own a jersey worn by your favorite Mudbugs player, but help out a great cause in the process. The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs are proud to partner with the Christus Schumpert Sutton Children's Medical Center and the CARA Center for abused and neglected children on an auction of the warm-up jerseys that were worn throughout the 2007-08 regular season. 100 percent of the proceeds will go to Sutton Children's and the CARA Center .

These white jerseys with purple trim and numbers were worn during the pregame warm-up of Mudbugs home games during 07-08 and were even worn during a game on November 29th as the Mudbugs beat Wichita 2-1. The jerseys, which were sponsored by Lou Chandler, Inc., also feature the Sutton Children's logo on underneath the player's number on the back.

During Game 1 of the Northern Conference Semi-Finals on Sunday evening at CenturyTel Center , these jerseys will be featured in a silent auction near the Swamp Shack team store on the concourse. The auction will run from the time the doors open until the end of the third period, when the auctions will close and the jerseys must be claimed and paid for by the winners. Then prior to Monday night's Game 2, Lou Chandler will present a check for all the money raised during the auction to representatives of the Sutton Children's Medical and CARA Centers .

Sutton Children's Medical Center is a new, 106-bed, dedicated children's hospital with big, new rooms, incredible family atmosphere and outstanding pediatric specialists, nurses and staff. Using state-of-the-art technology, their skilled pediatric specialists and sub-specialists work with experienced neonatal and pediatric nurses and nurse practitioners to provide comprehensive care.

The Cara Center is a collaborative effort of CHRISTUS Schumpert and LSU Health Sciences Center , located in a building adjacent to the St. Mary Place hospital in Shreveport . Its primary purpose is to provide medical care to victims of suspected child abuse and to provide follow-up services such as counseling for the child and family. The staff also assists with law enforcement and court proceedings always working in behalf of what is best for the child involved.

Sunday at 5:05 pm, the Mudbugs will start their 2008 CHL playoff run against Texas in the second round of the playoffs. The Governor's Cup Champion Mudbugs are the number one overall seed in this year's playoffs, giving them home ice advantage throughout the postseason.
