Jeremy Ware transferred to double-A Harrisburg

EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Trapper Baseball Club announced today that outfielder Jeremy Ware has been transferred to Double-A Harrisburg. Edmonton's roster currently stands at 23 players; 12 pitchers, two catchers, six infielders and three outfielders, plus three players (right-handed pitcher Roy Corcoran, right-handed pitcher Seung Song, and infielder Henry Mateo) on the disabled list.

Ware, 28, batted .267 (16-for-60) with two doubles and five RBI in 22 games with the Trappers this season. He was transferred to the club on April 17 from Harrisburg, where he batted .095 (2-for-21) in six games. Ware, a native of Orangeville, Ontario and the 10th Canadian to don a Trapper uniform, was originally drafted by the Montreal Expos in the 25th round of the 1994 draft and spent the first seven years of his career in the Expos minor league system, reaching as high as Triple-A Ottawa in 2001. He batted .265 (39-for-147) with two home runs and 13 RBI in 53 games with the Lynx that season. Ware signed as a free agent with the Cleveland Indians before the 2002 season and hit .296 (40-for-135) with one home run and 17 RBI in 42 games with Triple-A Buffalo before being traded to the Expos on August 8 for right-handed pitcher Shane Arthurs. He split last season between Harrisburg, where he batted .280 (71-for-254) with 12 home runs and 52 RBI in 68 games, and Edmonton, where he batted .300 (6-for-20) with one home run and one RBI in 12 games. Ware, who now resides in Guelph, Ontario, entered the season with a career .265 batting average (759-for-2861), 74 home runs and 426 RBI in 817 games.

The next Trapper home game will be on Tuesday, May 18 when the club will take on the Albuquerque Isotopes. The game will begin at 7:05 PM.
