SIOUX FALLS, SD (February 15, 2007) - The Sioux Falls Canaries have hired local performer and composer Jeremy Hegg to be the team's organist for the 2007 season. Hegg will run the team's music operations during all 48 home games.

A native of Dell Rapids, Hegg came to Sioux Falls in 1990 when he enrolled at Augustana College. At Augustana, Jeremy studied music and wrote his first concert band piece. Today, he writes arrangements for several high school marching band shows, including Sioux Falls Lincoln and Sioux Falls Washington High Schools. Hegg is also a part of the band Spooncat!, which has shared the stage with Ziggy Marley, Delbert McClinton, The Doobie Brothers, and Cherry Poppin' Daddies.

"I could not pass on the opportunity to combine the two great passions in my life, music and baseball," said Hegg. "Baseball is the perfect game. It brings people together through its nonchalant pace, rich history and deep intricacies. Much like music, you can enjoy baseball on numerous levels."

Hegg will debut as the Canaries new organist when the team hosts the Northern League's Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in an exhibition game on Saturday, May 5.

The Canaries open the 2007 season against the Sioux City Explorers. The team's "Season Premier" presented by First PREMIER Bank/PREMIER Bankcard takes place at Sioux Falls Stadium on Thursday, May 10.

Bird Seeds: For the second straight year, the Canaries have won the Sioux Falls Business Journal's Reader's Choice Award for "Best Sporting Event For Entertaining Clients."
