Jennifer Stewart Recognized as this Week's Peterborough Petes Local Minor Hockey Volunteer

April 7, 2021 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) - Peterborough Petes News Release

(Peterborough, ON) - Jennifer Stewart, Secretary for the Norwood Minor Hockey Association is recognized as this week's exceptional minor hockey volunteer. The Petes want to celebrate minor hockey volunteers for their contributions to a safe return of minor hockey during this unprecedented season.

Stewart is celebrated for taking on a long list of tasks to ensure the organization could operate smoothly throughout the ongoing pandemic. The Hornet's Secretary was tasked with overseeing police checks, tracking registrations, and answering concerns from players and parents.

"As President for the past three years, I often had a worry each year, and that was 'what if Jen doesn't come back?'" says Greg Hartwick, who nominated Jennifer. "Perhaps people don't see the work she does, but if it wasn't for Jennifer, there would be no hockey [in Norwood]."

Each week the Petes will recognize and celebrate one volunteer from the PMHC, PHA, PGHA, and local adaptive hockey organizations for their additional time and effort in ensuring a safe environment and return for hockey.

The Petes welcome players, parents and other members of the minor hockey community to nominate deserving local volunteers by filling out this form.

Every Thursday evening, Petes fans are encouraged to tune into the Peterborough Petes Facebook page for Thursday Night Live (TNL). Each episode of TNL features an exclusive Q&A with special celebrity guests, a musical performance, cooking segments, and merchandise offers.
