Jeff Christian Named A Finalist For CHL MVP

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO - Youngstown SteelHounds Head Coach J.F. Laforest, in conjunction with the Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that forward Jeff Christian has been named one of the six finalists for the CHL's Most Valuable Player (given each year to the CHL player adjudged to be the most valuable to his team). Christian also remains in the running for the CHL's Joe Burton Award (given each year to the league's leading scorer).

Christian joins Amarillo's Derek Hahn, Wichita's Joe Blaznek, Bossier-Shreveport's Dan Wildfong, Colorado's Greg Pankewicz and Odessa's Sebastien Thinel as finalists for the award.

In the point race, Christian is second in the league trailing Hahn by six points. Christian has 91 points this season (49-42=91) and Hahn sits with 97 points (31-66=97).

The SteelHounds Captain currently leads the league in goals with his 49, ten better than Blaznek. Christian resume this season also includes ranking among the league leaders with nine game winning goals (tied for 1st), 18 power play goals (2nd) and a ,198 shooting percentage (3rd).

The SteelHounds play their final two road games of the season this weekend when they battle Bossier-Shreveport on Friday night and Memphis on Saturday night. Both games can be heard on the radio home of the Hounds, ESPN- 1240, The Fan beginning at 7:45 PM (EST). Face-off is scheduled for 8:05 PM (EST).
