Erie Otters News Release
The Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League announced today that Mark Jeanneret, Director of Media Relations and Play-by-Play Announcer, has accepted a similar position with the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League. "This was a very difficult decision," Jeanneret said. "While I am extremely excited about my new position with the Pirates and the challenges it presents at this point in my career, leaving Erie won't be easy. "I am grateful for the opportunities and challenges that I experienced during my time as a member of the Otters and I will also always appreciate the friends and fans that have made my time in Erie so memorable." Jeanneret was with the Otters organization for a total of 12 seasons.
The Niagara Falls, Ontario native broadcast more than 800 regular season and playoff games on radio and television for the Otters, including the Otters run to the 2002 OHL Championship and Memorial Cup appearance. In addition to his play-by-play responsibilities, Jeanneret also managed all team communications, advertising and marketing initiatives. "On behalf of the entire Erie Otters organization, we'd like to thank Mark for all of his hard work, dedication, and loyalty over the years," said Otters Assistant General Manager, Administration E. Shawn Waskiewicz. "We wish him well in his newest endeavor." Prior to joining the Otters, Jeanneret was the radio host and producer for the NHL's Buffalo Sabres handling pre-game, intermissions and post-game on all radio broadcasts.
