Jayson Werth Expected to Start Rehab Assignment with P-Nats Tomorrow

(WOODBRIDGE, VA) - The Potomac Nationals are excited to announce that Washington Nationals' outfielder Jayson Werth is expected to begin a rehab assignment in Woodbridge tomorrow night against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at 7:05 PM. Werth is currently on the 60-day DL after breaking his left wrist back on May 6th.

According to the Washington Post, Werth is set to begin his rehab assignment tomorrow night and the duration of his assignment is unknown. If that is the case, Werth will become the 12th rehabber to play with the Potomac Nationals so far in 2012.

Werth, 33, is in his second season in the Nationals organization after playing the previous four seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies. Before his injury, Werth was hitting .276 with three home runs and 12 RBI in 27 games this season. Werth enjoyed his most productive season in 2009 with Philadelphia setting career-highs with 36 home runs and 99 runs batted in.

Despite this being his first stint with the Potomac Nationals, it is not the first time Werth has appeared in the Carolina League. While with the Baltimore Orioles organization, Werth played two seasons with the Frederick Keys in 1999 and 2000 compiling 93 hits in 90 total games.
