WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Sept. 3, 2013) - Thanks to his complete game shutout Wednesday night, former Winston-Salem righty Myles Jaye collected the Carolina League's Pitcher of the Week honor for the final week of the regular season, the league office announced Tuesday.

In the seven-inning game following the completion of a suspended contest, Jaye tossed a complete game shutout against the Potomac Nationals, who finished the regular season with the CL's best overall record. Jaye scattered five hits and struck out four in the second complete game in his minor league career.

This effort came in the ninth game of Winston-Salem's season-long winning streak of 10 games, which matched the longest run in the Dash era (2009-present) and in the CL this season. Jaye also earned his first career promotion to Double-A Birmingham four days after this sterling game against the P-Nats.

After beginning the season with Low-A Kannapolis, the Fayatteville, Ga., native jumped to the Carolina League in mid-May. He went 9-6 with a 4.11 earned run average in 20 outings, 13 of which were quality starts. The former Toronto farmhand struck out 89 batters and limited opposing hitters to a .266 average in 118.1 innings of work.

Jaye became the fourth Winston-Salem player and third pitcher to earn a weekly honor within the Carolina League. Chris Beck (June 3-9) and Bryan Blough (June 17-23) have also claimed the Pitcher of the Week awards, while the Dash's lone Player of the Week honor belongs to Courtney Hawkins (June 3-9).

Winston-Salem completed its 2013 season with a victory Monday afternoon at Wilmington, and the squad posted its fourth winning season in the franchise's five years as the Dash (71-69). The Dash's 3.94 team earned run average was only .35 shy of the CL's best ERA (Potomac, 3.69), while Winston twirled a CL-best 13 shutouts during the 2013 campaign.

The Dash will open their fifth season at BB&T Ballpark in April of 2014. Winston-Salem's 2014 schedule will be announced sometime this fall. For season ticket information, call the Dash at (336) 714-2287.
