DAYTONA - Cubs starting pitcher Jay Jackson had a stellar two starts over the last seven days and has been awarded by the Florida State League for his work. The 2008 draft pick is currently 2-0 with a microscopic 0.36 ERA with Daytona.
Jackson faced the Dunedin Blue Jays twice over the last week and looked equally impressive in both starts. On August 10th, the Furman University product faced the minimum 21 batters through seven scoreless innings of work and struck out four. He followed that up with a victory on August 16th against Dunedin. The right-hander spun 6.2 innings of shutout baseball and struck out seven. Jackson surrendered just six hits over thirteen-plus innings of work.
